DIY Party Food :: Krispie Sushi Rolls

It’s always when it’s time to send treats to school that I end up finding another fun little diy treat project that the kids can help with. This time, I found the krispie treat sushi rolls from Group Recipes.

I decided to make my own version after skimming the candy aisle at the grocery store. I decided to use twizzlers and sour gummy worms along with the fruit rollups (I could only find the ‘fruit by the foot’, but you can use the sheets of rollups too.

Start by making your Krispie treats as normal, and place on a cookie sheet and pat down until you have about 1/2″ depth all across.

Cut the treats into rectangles and on one long edge, place a twizzler, and one or two gummie worms (to cover the length). Begin rolling tightly.

Wrap tightly to get out all the air bubbles and then begin wrapping with the fruit roll up. You should have a little treat log now.

With a sharp knife, cut the candy sushi into 1″ pieces.

There you have it, a fun edible treat for your next kids’ party. Heck, even for your bridal showers and baby showers, this fun treat will be a hit!

{Review} Princess Cupcake Kit

My 9 year old daughter, who’s quite the little cook already – got this adorable Princess Cupcake Baking Party Kit for Christmas…and of course, she was anxious to try it out! This set is designed for birthday parties, where each girl can decorate their own princess cupcake.

So we baked and iced the 8 cupcakes according to their directions and placed the edible paper decorations on top.

You use the included brushes and edible paint colors to decorate the paper pieces. You can see that my 4 year old and 7 year old also got in on the action in the design work! The kids had fun with this, but found it a bit awkward painting on the soft paper (since it had all the icing under it – the younger kids had more trouble than my 9 year old daughter).

Overall, the kids had fun, there was plenty of paint – my 3 kids only used the one sheet of edible paint (there are a couple sheets included so you can spread it down a table) and they especially loved eating their finished cupcake!

For your princess birthday party – this could be a fun activity to keep the girls occupied for a bit of time.
