DIY Party Food :: Chocolate Marshmellows

If looking or a quick & fun treat that can color coordinate with your party color theme, then chocolate covered marshmellows may be your answer.

You’ll need:

  • large marshmellows
  • toothpicks
  • wilton chocolate wafers
  • sprinkles or other toppings

To get started, start melting your chocolate in the microwave or on a double boiler (pot of boiling water with another bowl on top).

While chocolate is melting, place toothpicks into all your marshmellows and place on a cookie sheet.

Once your chocolate is nice and smooth, lower the heat and begin dipping your marshmellows. Place each one on the cookie sheet when done. If you wish, you can dip the marshmellow into the sprinkles or other toppings you may have selected.

Place in the fridge to harden up and serve for your party!

Add a 2″ collage topper/cupcake topper design to add to your party styling! Below is the ‘Perfect Pet Party – 2″ Collage Sheet’.

Shown above:

It really is quite easy and since you can get nearly any color or combination of colors – it’s a quick treat that will blend with your party decor beautifully!

DIY Party Food :: Krispie Sushi Rolls

It’s always when it’s time to send treats to school that I end up finding another fun little diy treat project that the kids can help with. This time, I found the krispie treat sushi rolls from Group Recipes.

I decided to make my own version after skimming the candy aisle at the grocery store. I decided to use twizzlers and sour gummy worms along with the fruit rollups (I could only find the ‘fruit by the foot’, but you can use the sheets of rollups too.

Start by making your Krispie treats as normal, and place on a cookie sheet and pat down until you have about 1/2″ depth all across.

Cut the treats into rectangles and on one long edge, place a twizzler, and one or two gummie worms (to cover the length). Begin rolling tightly.

Wrap tightly to get out all the air bubbles and then begin wrapping with the fruit roll up. You should have a little treat log now.

With a sharp knife, cut the candy sushi into 1″ pieces.

There you have it, a fun edible treat for your next kids’ party. Heck, even for your bridal showers and baby showers, this fun treat will be a hit!

DIY Signs :: Using Invitation Designs

I love using signage at a party to give instructions or provide information (such as what wines are available). Not only does the signage help provide some information for your guests when you can’t be available to answer their basic questions, but it helps keep the feeling of unity in your design elements.

For a summer this past summer, they used a 5″x7″ invitation design to create their signage and then placed them in a frame.

You can order this item in our online store for immediate download: Delightful Damask 5×7 Invitation

Invitations are essentially a blank canvas that you can use for anything – menus, signs, table numbers, programs and so much more.

Never feel constrained by the category I place a design in – feel free to use or alter these creations to best meet your needs.

So tell me, what else would you use an invitation design to create? And be sure to watch for more photos coming soon of this incredible wedding!

DIY Party Project :: Ribbon Placecard Frame

When you have a smaller guest list and are looking for an interesting way to display your placecards, you may want to consider creating a ribbon placecard frame.

Start by finding a great frame – I love digging through garage sales and thrift stores to find a great option, like the one below…I loved this because it had a white wooden inner frame already.

I started by taking apart the frame and discarding the picture. Then I spray painted the frame a metallic silver.

On the inner wooden frame (or create an inner frame yourself (even using cardboard), begin lining up your ribbon, starting at the top and slightly overlapping each ribbon. Secure on backside of wooden frame with tape or staples.

Keep adding ribbon until you have the entire inner frame covered. Place inner frame back inside of main frame and secure (I used a special clear duct tape to secure the backside of the frames together.

You are then ready to add placecards and place on display for guests – you can see this frame in action on the Nuance Occasions Parisian Garden Wedding.

I’d love to see pictures of the ribbon placecard frames you create!
